Katavi - Great Herds without the Hordes
This park is for the connoisseur of Africa travellers who like to visit the most remote places, away from the crowds. For every thousand tourists that visit Serengeti 1 person might reach Katavi so you will feel privileged when you look back through the visitor’s book to find the last person to have been there!Katavi National Park - Katavi Wildlife Camp
Katavi's 3 floodplains - Lake Katavi, Katisunga (the main plain in between), and L.Chada - are strung together by the Katuma river and boast one of the largest population of Hippopotamii and crocodiles while providing a habitat for an abundance of waterflowl. Katavi's vast size, infinite grassland plains, isolation and inaccessibility have meant that herd sizes are huge and it is not uncommon to see several thousand buffalo in a herd as they congregate on the plains during the dry. Everything has to be kept in balance so Lion, and other predators, wait along the fringed woodland to ambush the game as it returns to the woodland for shelter at sundown. There's nowhere else like it!
