Katavi Wildlife Camp is very exclusive and located in the best game area at Ikuu on the banks of the Katuma river opening out on to the biggest plain - Katisunga which is the middle of the 3 main plains that form Katavi making both Lake Katavi and Lake Chada also accessible from this camp.
Crucially the camp is located where the Katuma drains the Katisunga plain flowing on towards Chada so that you can watch the daily movements of game between grazing on the plains and the last remaining pools of water in the Katuma during the dry and witness the dramas unfold before you. We were not the first to find this spot as a pride of lion have probably been there for a million years! Though best in the dry season Katavi is pretty good in the green season too especially for birders.
